Mathematik zum Anfassen

Insgesamt 268 Schülerinnen und Schüler mitsamt ihren Begleitpersonen aus Mathe-Lehrkräften und Eltern folgten der Einladung des Mathematischen Instituts der Universität Bayreuth zum 16. Tag der Mathematik. Mit fantasievollen Gruppennamen wie „Die Glücksbärchis“ (MWG Bayreuth), „Die Gaußtronauten“ (Dientzenhofer-Gymnasium Bamberg) oder „Franz & Gloria“ (GCE Bayreuth) lösten die angehenden Mathematikerinnen und Mathematiker anspruchsvolle Aufgaben.

Darüber hinaus boten „Mitmach-Labore“ und Escape-Rooms Mathematik zum Anfassen und Experimentieren. Das Programm wurde durch drei thematisch breit gefächerte Vorträge abgerundet.

Am Ende dieses unterhaltsam lehrreichen Tages kam der Höhepunkt für die Schülerinnen und Schüler: Die Preisverleihung. Von den 73 Teams aus 19 Schulen in 14 Orten gewannen erste Plätze Teams vom Dientzenhofer-Gymnasium (Bamberg, Klassenstufe 5/6), vom Gymnasium Fränkische Schweiz und vom RWG (Ebermannstadt bzw. Bayreuth, 7/8), Gymnasium Christian-Ernestinum (Bayreuth, 9/10) sowie vom Celtis-Gymnasium (Schweinfurt, 11-13). Zweite und dritte Plätze belegten Teams vom Markgräfin Wilhelmine Gymnasium, Graf-Münster-Gymnasium, Gymnasium Christian-Ernestinum (alle Bayreuth), des Gymnasiums Ernestinum (Coburg), der Gesamtschule Hollfeld (Hollfeld), des Frankenwald-Gymnasiums (Kronach) und vom Celtis-Gymnasium (Schweinfurt).

Hands-on mathematics

A total of 268 students and their accompanying math teachers and parents accepted the invitation of the Mathematical Institute of the University of Bayreuth to the 16th Day of Mathematics. With imaginative group names such as “Die Glücksbärchis” (MWG Bayreuth), “Die Gaußtronauten” (Dientzenhofer-Gymnasium Bamberg) or “Franz & Gloria” (GCE Bayreuth), the budding mathematicians solved challenging problems.

In addition, “hands-on labs” and escape rooms offered hands-on and experimental mathematics. The program was rounded off by three lectures covering a wide range of topics.

At the end of this entertaining and educational day came the highlight for the pupils: the award ceremony. Of the 73 teams from 19 schools in 14 towns, first place was won by teams from Dientzenhofer-Gymnasium (Bamberg, grades 5/6), Gymnasium Fränkische Schweiz and RWG (Ebermannstadt and Bayreuth, 7/8), Gymnasium Christian-Ernestinum (Bayreuth, 9/10) and Celtis-Gymnasium (Schweinfurt, 11-13).
